Bank transfer or card: which should I choose?

Whichever suits you. Both are safe, both take a minute, and neither costs you anything on top of the price.

When an invoice arrives, you pick how to pay it. You pay the price you agreed either way, and nothing else: Kettle covers the cost of moving the money out of its own fee.
•
Bank transfer. Through Akahu, New Zealand's open banking service. You approve it in your own banking app.
•
Card. Through Stripe. Visa, Mastercard and Apple Pay.

Paying by bank, step by step

1
Choose your bank
We hand you to Akahu, New Zealand's open banking service, and it hands you to your own bank's login. Kettle never sees your banking password.
2
Approve the payment
Your bank shows you the amount and who it is going to. You approve it there, in your own banking app.
3
Come back
You land back in the chat, and it updates to paid within a few seconds.

Refunds

A card payment is refunded to your card through Stripe. A bank transfer is refunded by the business straight to your account, because that is where the money went. Either way, start by reporting the problem in the chat. See When the work isn't right.
